Budget Bites Irish Soda Bread with Clotted Cream
This traditional Irish soda bread can be enjoyed around St. Patricks Day or any time of the year! Best served warm with clotted cream, which is a bit like whipped cream but not quite as sweet.

Method
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9-round pan with nonstick cooking spray
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, raisins, and caraway seeds. In a separate smaller bowl, combine the eggs, buttermilk, and sour cream. Stir the liquid mixture into the flour mixture until just combined. Knead the dough in the bowl 10 to 12 times until it comes together. It will be sticky. Place the dough into the prepared pan and cut an X in the top about ¾’ deep. Dust with 1 tablespoon flour.
- Bake for 65-75 minutes until top is browned.
- While the bread is baking, make the clotted cream. Using the whisk attachment on your mixer, whisk the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. By hand, fold in the sour cream and powdered sugar until just combined.
- Remove the bread from the oven and cool for 10 minutes and then remove to a wire rack to cool the rest of the way. Serve with clotted cream.
