Salt & red chili pepper to taste

Method
- In a small sauce pot, add a handful of basil along with 8-10 cloves of garlic and 1/2 cup olive oil to boil for 1-3 minutes. Do not burn, lower heat and steep for 2-3 minutes. Turn off heat, cook and purée in a food processor. Set aside.
- In a sauce pot, cook a halved onion in butter until it caramelizes, add tomatoes puréed by hand and simmer for about 20 minutes. Add basil, garlic and oil mixture to sauce, stir and cook for about 10 minutes. Seasoned with salt and red chili pepper flakes. Remove onion. (I think the onion should be puréed after cooking like this).
- Boil spaghetti to al dente, strain and place in sauce pot, toss and serve immediately with grated cheese.
